Born to the late Rev. Salvador and Sally Juarez on March 25, 1953, she was the eldest of five children. Yolanda met Alfredo Gonzales at church and the two said their marriage vows on May 20, 1972. Yolanda and Alfredo shared forty-eight years together before her passing. They had one child, Crystal Gonzales, who along with her three sons, were the light of Yolanda’s life.
Yolanda had a tender, compassionate heart and demeanor, but can also be described as nurturing, fair, and kind. She was most thoughtful and generous with both her actions and time. She worked for the University of Houston–Clear Lake for over 29 years, and for many years volunteered with organizations and shelters for abused women and children. She gave selflessly to many who came through Bay Area Turning Point and LULAC.
Yolanda was a dedicated member of Iglesia Cristiana Betania since inception in 1991, when founded by her late parents. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Salvador and Sally Juarez, brother Patrick Juarez, in-laws Jose and Antonia Gonzales.
Yolanda leaves to cherish her loving memory, husband, Alfredo Gonzales; daughter, Crystal Gonzales, grandsons Hunter Bowen (Denise), Jeffrey Bowen and Dylan Bowen; siblings Carolyn Howard (Roger), Rosalie Lopez, James Juarez (Annette); in-laws Gloria G. Gonzalez (Orlando), Nina Perez, Rev. Joe L. Gonzales (Marly), Lisa Rios, Hilda Valdez (Jorge), and a host of family, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 17, 2020 at 6:00 PM at Iglesia Cristiana Betania, 801 TX Highway 3, League City, TX 77573.
