Yvonne graduated from Center High and moved to Houston where she pursued a nursing career. Those years during school were some of her fondest memories. She worked as a registered nurse for over 35 years until she retired. Yvonne was a faithful member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church and was a member of the Chapel Sunday school class. She was a Matron of Eastern Star where she was a 50 year member. Yvonne was also very involved with the Northwest Chapter of AARP organization where she served as President. She was always on the go, really enjoyed traveling, and was a big sports fan.
Yvonne was predeceased by her parents, several sisters and brothers, and her husband, Benjamin C. White. She is survived by her sister, Louise Tamulis, and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. She will be missed by all. As difficult as it is for her family and many friends, who loved her and who are left to carry on, she would want us to honor her memory by living each day to the fullest as she lived hers.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock until eight o’clock on Friday, November 2 at Pat H. Foley Funeral Directors located at 1200 West 34th Street, Houston, Texas, 77018.
A funeral service in celebration of Yvonne’s life is to be conducted on Saturday, November 3 at ten o’clock in the morning at Pat H. Foley Funeral Directors, where Reverend Frank Coats of St. Matthews United Methodist Church is to officiate. Afterwards, the interment is to follow, via an escorted cortege, at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorials in Yvonne’s name may be made to St. Matthews United Methodist Church Children’s Fund, 4300 North Shepherd Drive, Houston, Texas 77018. Condolences may be expressed at www.pathfoleyfuneraldirectors.com
