Momz here Dave ~ 6 minutes, 6 hours, 6 days, 6 weeks, and today Dave, 6 MONTHS!  Undoubtedly lifes' most difficult challenge, losing ones' child. Miss you terribly ~ proud to be your mother.

Christopher, I had the privilege of meeting you once.  I wanted you to know that your father was a great man. A man who I respected and admired. A man who will be greatly missed.  Our thoughts and prayers will always be with you and your family.

Hi Dave, It's me -  22weeks/154days today since we've talked, texted, laughed, discussed politics and shared time.  I miss you terribly and, no sign of it getting any easier. My condolences to David's family and friends.  David was super sweet and a talented sax player. I will cherish the memories of time spent together, and all the fun band moments, concerts and trips, especially cutting up with our beloved band director Ed Francis. Most special to me was his support and friendship, especially during the most difficult time in my life. He will be missed by many and not forgotten. Rest in peace my friend.

You always knew I was never at a loss for words but the time has arrived. How do I sum up the time and times we shared? When you were born you were like my kid brother. When I had children, you were like one of my kids. I then watched you grow into the wonderful man you became.A man of substance, integrity, honest and loyal. You made Grama boast, Momzee proud, Lori love struck and Chris lovingly devoted to his BFF. Your courage, grace and dignity over the last 27 months will remain an inspiration to all of us. Until I join you, I will always be here for Chris, Lori, Cindy and Kevin. I know you are resting in the arms of Jesus. I love you so very much.

Haven't seen Dave in  years but have fond memories of him from school.  It looks as though he lead a full life and was well loved, may his family find comfort in knowing how many lives he touched

David was a kind, gentle and loving man. He grew up as a brother to me, and all of my brothers. His love and friendship was a model for us all to live by. I will always remember David fondly from our years together in high school, especially being in band.  He was mild mannered and kind, but he was funny too.  Your family is in my prayers that you find healing and strength as you go forward.

Dave was my cousin, but the parts he played in my life were those of mentor, role model, friend and brother--his impact is indelible and his quiet way of leading by example are of immeasurable benefit to me.  To say his passing was too soon would be a spectacular understatement, but his legacy of love and strength will endure for the benefit of his wife, son and mother.  I think I will value most the inexhaustible strength and courage with which he faced an unbelievably, cruel and unrelenting disease--I do not have Dave's courage, but will use his example as motivation when facing the difficulties in my life.  I was fortunate to know Dave and will remember him always.

Dear Lori, Chris, and Family, I'm here for you always. We have a special bond and friendship that we both felt from the very first day you and David walked into our Kindergarten classroom. I love and care about you and Chris. I pray that you find peace in knowing that David would want the best for you and Chris. He'd want smiles and not tears. That's the David I know and love.

I feel very blessed to know the Nehring family. Your positive outlook on every situation is inspiring. To Chris, know that your father is never gone if you keep him in your heart. I am always here if you need anything.

Mr Nehring was an amazing man. I feel he is the first person outside of my family that I could completely count on no questions asked. He was a true friend to me and I feel so blessed to have been touched by his life. Very few people like him exist. I miss him and think of him everyday. He left me with an amazing gift.....his sweet wife Lori....what an amazing wife and friend. I will love you forever Mr Nehring and Lori and Chris will always be in my life. I thank God you were born and though your time on earth was short, you conducted yourself and everything you did with dignity and respect.

He so enjoyed being a family man and loved you both so very much. I loved seeing Chris dressing up in a suit and tie like Dave...I enjoyed getting to know Lori an Dave and taking baby steps with them during our children's first year of school...It meant so much being surrounded by such wonderful and awesome parents! For my BFF, Dave: You once told me I was the greatest friend  a person could possibly want. Another time you said that it was "a fact" that I was the best friend a person could ever have. In our senior year in high school you told me that I had "carved out a little notch" in your heart and that you hoped our friendship would never end.  Well, right back atcha Big D!  You were my best friend, my brother, my gentle protector, and my super hero! You were the most amazing person I have know and it was an honor to call you my brother in law. As I promised you I am doing my best to help Lori Anne and Chris.......I will never forget the day you were getting transported to Hospice and you were telling the medics how wonderful they were. You have heard the story before, Dave, but please indulge me, again.....on a blustery, snowy, bitterly cold Chicago morning, January 9, 1964, you were born to Charles David and Cynthia Ann Nehring.  Thus "David" after your Dad and "Lloyd" after Dr. Lloyd Blakeman who told me you should be named after him.  You were not a particularly agreeable participant in the process.  Dr. B had worked hard from the previous September, when you and I shared my appendectomy, to keep the two of us well....and he did!  So, thus began a lovely 49 year relationship.  I am selfish, I wanted more but was blessed by what I had.  My dear friend, my guardian, my protector, my political debate partner, my hero, my SON!  I miss you so very much...dozens of times a day...and the tears find me often.  Surely not the ending I would have written but it was not mine to write.  I know, without question, you are well and happy.  I pray I can make this new and unimagined journey, without you, displaying the same courage, dignity, and grace you faced your journey with. You made me very happy and left me so much of yourself in your special and wonderful son, Christopher.  Though you live gloriously with our Heavenly Father and family you live here with us through Chris.  Truly my pleasure to know you, David. I am so very proud to be your mother. Dave was an awesome man.  He gave my daughter a chance at getting back to work after we had moved from Port Richey to Clearwater. He encouraged her to always be positive and do "your best." He will be missed but never forgotten.

Dave was a gentleman, one of the sweetest, most sincere people I have ever met.  I will miss him dearly.  I am praying for Lori, Christopher and family.

My husband and i are very sad for your loss, as my  husband John Sunderland,had worked with Dave at walgreens many years ago. At that time Dave was his e.x.a., he thinks it was the Dunedin store,my husband  remembers Dave as a nice person.Our deepest sympathy To his family and friends. .

David was my first Walgreens store manager, who made my onboarding in 2003 a pleasant experience. He was always kind and warm to team members and customers alike. He will be missed dearly.

I knew Dave from high school. Unfortunately, I havent seen him since then but, I remember him fondly. My sympathies to his loving family. God Blees You All.

Lori, as David has pass from time into eternity he will be forever in your heart and your children's hearts and memories.  David was a very gentle man with many friends.
