

Allen Miller, age 89, passed away on March 11, 2013 in Hughson, Ca. He was born the youngest of four boys on April 12, 1923 to Helen Joyce Miller and Roger Raymond Quincy Miller in Springfield, Mo. He joined the Army Air Corp on June 6, 1942 and became a bomber pilot during World War II. He flew 51 missions over Europe during the War. He also served in the Korean War as a pilot. He was cleared by the Atomic Energy Commission to arm and drop nuclear weapons during the Korean War. After serving his country, Allen served a total of 9 years in the California Highway Patrol. He then went to work as an executive for Sears until he retired in December of 1980. He was a member of the Fresno Masonic Lodge for over 62 years, a member of the York Rite in Modesto, and a Gideon for 17 years. He was also a Deacon at Calvary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, three older brothers, Phil, Robert and James, daughter, Bonnie Lou Southerland, and son, Roger Miller. He is survived by his wife Barbara, daughter, Peggy Chadsey, sons, Jeffrey Miller and Jay Miller, 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Services will be at Calvary Baptist Church on Friday, March 15 at 11:00 AM. A Graveside Service will be held at the San Joaquin Valley National Cementery in Santa Nella, Ca. on Thursday, March 21 at 12:30pm.
