Angelo Peter Aiello was born January 9, 1938, in Santa Clara,
California, and passed away on October 3, 2025, in Stockton, California with his beloved wife by his side.
Angelo grew up on the family ranch in San Jose and attended St. Leo’s Elementary School before graduating from Bellarmine
College Preparatory. He earned an Associate of Arts degree in Agriculture from the University of California, Davis, and later completed a two-year program in Pomology. Over his career in the food and agricultural industry, he held management roles at Tillie Lewis Foods (later Ogden Foods), and Quality Assured Packing, known for its pioneering fire-roasted tomato line.
Angelo cherished both his roles as a devoted dad and a loving “Poppa”. As a dad, he was deeply involved in his daughters’ lives,
especially when all three played Bobby Sox softball. He even became the Commissioner of Bobby Sox to support them. As “Poppa”, Angelo was a joyful presence at his grandchildren’s soccer games, baseball games, and band recitals. He spent countless hours with them swimming, cooking/barbecuing, playing games, cornhole, bocce, and filling their lives with laughter.
Angelo enjoyed an active retirement. He played weekly cards with “the guys”, and played golf until his knee replacements sidelined his
swing. He and Darlene loved traveling with groups of friends in motorhomes, exploring scenic camp grounds and making memories on the road. They also enjoyed vacations in Mexico, Italy, the British Isles, etc. A lifelong car enthusiast, Angelo often reminisced about his teenage Jaguar years and later treated
himself to a 2010 Camaro SS to satisfy his love of speed. He continued to share that passion at local car shows, connecting with
fellow enthusiasts. During retirement, he was a dedicated member of the Stockton Civic Theater, enjoying many wonderful plays with
friends. In addition to this, Angelo volunteered his time to the Morada Area Association, serving on the Board for eight years. He worked alongside the Waterloo-Morada Fire Department and the San Joaquin Sheriff’s Department to plan events that brought neighbors together and helped foster a safe, tight-knit community, and made many friends through these organizations.
Angelo lived a truly well-lived life, seizing every opportunity to fill it with joy, good company, and a bit of playfulness. He is preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Angeline Aiello, and brother Frank Aiello. He is survived and dearly missed by his loving wife of 39+ years, Darlene Aiello, daughters Teri Orella (Tom) of Woodinville, WA; Laurie Antognini (Keith) of Holladay, UT; Joelle Aiello of Walnut Creek, CA; five grandchildren: David Orella (Therese), Laura Orella, Jared Wood, Hunter Wood, and Wiatt Wood; one great grandson, Leon Orella, sister-in-law Josephine Aiello of San Jose, CA; and nephew Peter Aiello (Nancy) of San Jose, CA. Also survived by brother-in-law John Bunce (Mary) of Bettendorf, IA; sisters-in-law Judy Hardin (Steve) of Modesto, CA; Debbie Martinez of Plumas Lake, CA, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Those who knew him will forever remember the mischievous twinkle in his eye that was a signature part of his fun-loving spirit and the warmth he brought into every room. His spirit will live on in the laughter and the love he shared with everyone around him. At Angelo’s request, there will be no funeral, however there will be a Celebration of Life on January 10, 2026, at Waterloo Gun & Bocce Club, 4343 N. Ashley Lane, Stockton, California, from noon to 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, National Kidney Foundation, or the charity of your choice.
