Betty Jane McLain was born on June 20, 1947, to Orville and Gwendolyn McLain. She arrived exactly one year to the day after her big brother, Jack, and was later joined by her sisters Donna, Deb, and Alice. The five siblings shared an unbreakable bond. For decades, their Friday afternoon card games were a cherished tradition, often turning into full family gatherings, with loved ones dropping by to laugh, visit, and simply be together.
Betty married the love of her life, Bud, on September 16, 1966. “Bud and Betts” built a beautiful life together, filled with love, laughter, and devotion, for nearly 59 years, until Bud passed on June 23, 2025. Their children, Ticia and Jeff, were the pride and joy of their life… well, that is until their granddaughter, Kylee, was born and became the star of the show.
Betty and Bud shared a love for travel, especially with family and friends. Betty had a special fondness for the ocean and would often say, “I need to get some Vitamin Sea.” The beach was her happy place.
Together, Betty and Bud were incredibly generous, always ready to help when they saw a need. Their kindness was given quietly from the heart, without any desire for recognition.
Betty carried herself with class and natural grace. Above all, Betty was devoted to her faith. She loyally served her God, Jehovah, and held strong to the Bible’s promises for the future. She looked forward to the time described at Isaiah 35:5,6: “At that time the eyes of the blind will be opened, and the ears of the deaf will be unstopped. At that time the lame will leap like the deer, and the tongue of the speechless will shout for joy.”
We hold onto that same hope and look forward to the day when we see Betty and Bud together again.
