Dearest husband, loving father, proud grandpa, kind and fun loving Christian died on Saturday October 10, 2015 after a short illness. Boyce's last days were spent at home with his loving wife, Norma, and daughter, Joy caring for him. Boyce was born in Waterford, California on Sept. 24, 1938 to Willie and Dora Lutes. He lived in Ceres most of his life. He was one of 3 children. He was preceded in death by his parents. Boyce married the love of his life, Norma Frantz, when she was 15 years old. He worked at California Vegetable Concentrate for over 40 years. He and his wife Norma loved to golf and were members of Municipal Golf Course. He had a green thumb and loved to make his yard beautiful and grow many fruits and vegetables. He was always competing with his brother, Harold, to see who could grow the biggest and best produce. He also loved to do wood working in his garage.
He was a member of the Ceres Lions for many years. After Boyce retired he and Norma loved to go to Kooskia, Idaho to the Pioneer Cowboy Festival where they fell in love with Terry Raff, The Singing Mountain Man. He was an Oakland A's and a 49ers fan. He was a member of the Empire Church of the Brethren for 50 years. He and Norma taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and he was the Church Board Chair for a few years.
Boyce is survived by his wife of 57 years, Norma; brother Harold Lutes (June); sister Phyllis Caudle (Leland); son, Bruce; and daughter Joy Slaybaugh (Troy) of Ceres, CA; grandchildren, Sara, Katie, and Seth Lutes, Rochelle Slaybaugh and Torrie Slaybaugh; grandchildren Ava Reyes and Kailynn Lutes, Nathan Lemings, and Grayson Harden.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Empire Church of the Brethren on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.
