Dan Lee Schmitz

Born on April 24, 1961, Raised in Hughson, CA and was a graduate of Hughson High School class of 1979. Dan was raised with hard work, love and strong moral values that his parents instilled in him and anyone who truly knew Dan, it showed. Dan brought warmth and laughter to everyone around him throughout his life. He was known for his loving nature, kind heart, unwavering loyalty, and a hilarious wit that could brighten any room.

Dan found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved camping and being outdoors, he felt most at peace surrounded by nature. Traveling was another passion that allowed him to explore new places and create lasting memories. A talented cook, a lover of karaoke, music and playing cards (only if he won). Above all else, he cherished time spent with family and friends who he would cherish in his heart forever.

He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Virgilene Baptista; his brother, Steven Schmitz (Stephanie); Ronnie Baptista (Namita); his sisters, Paula Martin (Alan) and Robin Berdion (Richard); his brother-in-law, Ralph Azevedo; and many nieces & nephews. Dan loved his family & friends beyond measure.

Dan was preceded in death by his sisters Cathlene Azevedo and Pamela Forrette; his step father Raymond Baptista; his father Don Schmitz.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday February 24, 2026 @ 2pm at Lakewood Funeral Home in Hughson, CA.
