

Doug was born on January 22, 1951 in the city of Taft, California to parents Dean and Mary John.
He attended Wilson Elementary, La Loma Jr High and Thomas Downey High School, graduating in 1969. He attended MJC briefly before joining the US Army. While in the army, Doug served as a Drill Sergeant.
His working career began at the early age of 13 when he went to work for Delta Rubber Company, an industrial equipment company. Later in life he and a partner purchased the company, growing it to seven stores California and Nevada.
Doug lived in the Virginia City Highlands in Nevada and eventually came back to California to Copperopolis.
He loved to water ski, race boats and cars. He was the Volunteer Fire Chief in Virginia City, Nevada. Doug was always an old car buff and was very active in the Sierra Angels Car Club.
After his first retirement from Delta Rubber after 46 years, he was co-owner of Legend Music in Manteca and Fresno, where the store earned a prestigious award from NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) for "Best Emerging Music Store".
Over the years Doug enjoyed riding Harleys, belonging to the Central California Corvette Club and being an Ambassador for the National Corvette Museum. He was a Lifetime member of the museum and a member of the Corvettes Unlimited of Bowling Green club. He enjoyed RV camping with family and friends.
Doug was an accomplished musician and taught guitar lessons while running Legend Music. After retiring from Legend Music, he volunteered teaching guitar to those suffering from PTSD at the Modesto Vet Center. Doug and several of his good friends started a classic rock band and called themselves "Wrinkle".
Doug leaves behind his life partner, Francie Denis. His daughter Alicia Evans (Dustin), grandchildren Maverick, Lucas and Isabelle Evans. He was Papa to Logan and Lauren Pierce, and Brandon, Derek, Gavin and Audrey Denis. He also leaves behind sisters Marybeth Pollard, Julie Griswold (Gary), and cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean and Mary John.
