

Emma Marie Michalk Newsome Kroeker born July 2, 1932 in Porterville, California to Louis and Emma Michalk and died March 4, 2019 in Turlock, CA.. Emma was the oldest of 6 children, Louis Jr (deceased) (Jean), Caroline Bethany (Henry), Henry Michalk (Pauline), William (Bill) Michalk (deceased) (Rhonda), Elaine Hodge (Jack deceased), numerous nieces and nephews. Survived by 4 children, Charles (Sandy) Newsome (Barbara), Randal Newsome (Randy) (Marcia), Michael Newsome (Mike), (Tina), and Emma Jo (Jo) Goodman (Doug). Nine grandchildren (one deceased) and 7 great-grandchildren.
Emma was married on July 12, 1950 to Charles Newsome who died in 1981. They founded a dairy farm with Registered Holsteins in Visalia, CA and won numerous awards for milk production. Emma was a member of the Eastern Star, the Farmersville Grange and a 4-H Leader.
Emma moved to Turlock in 1986 with her second husband William (Bill) Kroeker (deceased); they farmed almonds until 2000 when she moved into town. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. For many years Emma arranged flowers for funeral receptions at the church and served as a volunteer serving meals and helping with the craft fair. She was active in a quilting group for many years and a very devoted seamstress and quilt maker. She loved to garden and maintained her own home and yard until her final illness. Emma enjoyed spending time with her family and was able to share her interest in family history at a first ever Michalk family reunion held in October 2018 with numerous family members present. Emma will be missed and leaves a lasting legacy in her many quilts.
