Ernie Mozaffari, aged 66, passed into the arms of his Savior on December 30, 2024. Ernie was born in Mashhad, Iran, and moved to the United States with his family in 1974. A lifelong lover of the arts, Ernie was a gifted artist. His sculptures, mosaics, and drawings are a vivid reminder of his joy in life and his wonderful way of seeing the world around him. He was an eternal learner and participated in art classes throughout his lifetime at Modesto Junior College and California State University, Chico. He attended UC Davis’s horticultural program, where he earned his Master Gardener certification. Ernie’s love of gardening is visible throughout his home: in his abundant vegetable gardens, his thriving flower beds, and his numerous, self-propagated houseplants. Ernie had a huge interest in nature and geography. His love of reading and learning led to him being very knowledgeable in the terrain and natural wonders of most places on the planet. In the fall of 2023, Ernie retired from office work and started working on his new dream: traveling the California Delta in his boat. Without the ties of an office desk, Ernie purchased his houseboat, the Sea Turtle, and began working to accomplish his dream of living on the water, surrounded by nature.
Ernie is preceded in death by his parents, Mehdi and Rosa Mozaffari. Ernie is survived by his brothers, Andre (Diane) and Emil Mozaffari; niece and nephew, Chrissa (Josh) and Branden; great nephews, Oliver and Conner; and his grandchildren.
