Jerry David Lee, 79, a lifelong resident of Modesto, California, went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, November 1, 2018. Born June 22, 1939 in Modesto California, he was the son of the late Comer and Dorothy Lee.
Jerry is survived by his wife Beverley of 56 years, daughters Amy Zachreus, Diana Fairbanks, brother Don Lee, seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Lee and brother, Bob Lee. Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to everyone.
Jerry attended Modesto High School where he graduated in 1957. He was actively involved in sports. He played basketball, football, and baseball. Some classmates referred to Jerry as “2-2-2” because he made 2 points with 2 seconds left in the second quarter of a high school basketball game. When he injured his knee, he joined the high school yell leading team. Jerry was an active participant in planning his high school reunions through the years. Following high school, he attended Modesto Junior College where he received his Associate of Arts degree. Jerry served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1959 until 1962.
Jerry spent fourteen years as a Correctional Officer for the Sierra Conservation Center. After retirement, he enjoyed planning and traveling numerous trips with his wife. Jerry also loved watching sports including football, baseball, golf, and horse racing. He especially loved football. He was a faithful fan of the San Francisco 49ers and enjoyed attending games with friends and family. Jerry was also an avid San Francisco Giants fan and enjoyed both attending and watching games in his spare time. Apart from his hobbies, he was also a member of the Shelter Cove Church in Modesto.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, November 8th at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson. Memorial donations may be made to the Community Hospice of Stanislaus County or charity of choice.
