Jimmy was born in Texas but moved to Ceres at a young age where he lived the rest of his life. He attended Ceres High School where he played basketball and enjoyed activities like wood shop. Later in life, Jimmy enjoyed other activities like playing billiards, softball, bowling and dominoes with family and friends. He was always willing to help others and enjoyed time with family and friends above all else.
Jimmy worked in the grocery retail business his entire life. First as a box boy at Valley Cash Market, then clerk and manager for New Deal Markets. He eventually made the move over to bread salesman for Rainbo Bread where he worked for over 36 years.
Jimmy met Shelia at a restaurant one night in the 1960’s and asked her out. They were married within weeks and lived out their marriage of 50 years with their family until her death in 2018. When asked what his favorite memory of his life was, Jimmy simply replied “being with her”. They raised two children, Dalena and Jerry Bowen.
Jimmy is proceeded in death by his parents Ralph and Mildred Bowen, wife Shelia Bowen, daughter Dalena Turpin and sister Wanda O’Shea. He is survived by his son Jerry Bowen, daughter-in-law Loan Bowen, sister Sherry O’Donnel and family, grandchildren Haley Turpin, Jacob, Hannah and Jarod Bowen, and great granddaughter Alena Medeiros.
