My names Dereck shaver, I went to elementary school with Joey. One thing I’ll never forget was him standing up for me when I was getting picked on. We hardly hung out, he didn’t have a good reason to do that, but he knew right from wrong and from that day on I knew Joey pierce had a good heart. My heart goes out to his family, I apologize deeply for the loss of your loving son. He truly was one of the coolest and nicest kids that I could remember! Sad that we didn’t stay in touch more. And sad that I didn’t find out sooner. So sorry. 💔

I was Joey's 3rd grade teacher. He was smart and creative, but more importantly he was genuinely  kind and thoughtful to everyone. Joey was liked by all of his classmates. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family for this tragic loss. Please know that he touched so many people with his kindness, and he will be remembered always.

Joey was a beautiful soul that put a smile on everyone’s face he was always so generous and selfless he never hesitated to help those he was close to One of our favorite movies to watch together was a Bronx tale I remember how you would always tell me your only allowed 3 great ones in our lifetime  Joey and you truly are a great one and I wouldn’t trade our time spent for anything I’m sorry we never finished all the pirates of the Caribbean  movies  I promise I will finish them all for you Rest In Peace to my first great one I will never forget you 

Joey went to elementary and high school with my daughter.  He was always one of my favorite kids.  He was a beautiful and cool young man that would never hesitate to say hi to his friend's dorky mom.

My heart breaks for his family.  There are so many people thinking of you right now.  We are sending love and strength.
