

Opal was a retired grocery store owner in Groveland which she started with her husband Kenneth Berg in 1969.
She was raised in Oklahoma then her family moved to Oakdale, CA. Where she met her first husband and had three beautiful children. Divorced. Met the love of her life Kenneth Berg. They married in 1960. In 1967 they decided to adopt one beautiful child. In 1969 they moved to Groveland to open a grocery store. There they raised four beautiful children, three of which were already on their own.
She was a member of many local clubs and organizations. Which she helped raise money for charities in the community. She was honored last year in a home town festival, she was the Grand Marshall because of her extensive involvement in the community.
Opal was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Berg, her daughter Gayl Richards and son Gary Guenther.
Opal is survived by her son Rick Guenther and his wife Ellen of Groveland, her daughter Bethany Berg of Groveland.
Opal also had twelve grandchildren. Clay Guenther of Nevada City, CA, Jil Miller and her husband John of Montgomery, TX, Kelda Kuhn and her husband Ray of Montgomery, TX, Janean Amos and her husband Matt of Greeley Hill, CA, Kristin Defeyter and her husband Rick of Groveland, CA. Troy House and his wife Lanette of Brooklyn, NY, Kenzy Pfeffer and her husband Matt of Torrance, CA, Jack Richards of San Francisco, CA. Jason Guenther of Turlock, CA, Taryan Kelly and her husband Greg of Turlock, CA, Megan McCormick and her husband Ryan of Pleasant Hill, CA. And adopted by heart Trevor Powell of Sonora, CA. Opal also had fifteen great grandchildren.
A graveside service for Opal will be held Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Lakewood Funeral Home & Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson, CA 95326.
A Celebration of life will be held on October 19, 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Groveland Community Resilience Center, located at 18986 Ferretti Road in Groveland, CA.
