Mr. Pedro Mendez

Mr. Mendez was born on June 19, 1932 in Zimatlán, Oaxaca, Mexico to Jose Mendez and Francisca Sanchez. He had seven siblings (Carlotta, Felipa, Miguel, Felisa, Guadalupe, Jose and Angelica). He is preceded in death by all but his younger sister, “Lupe.”

Mr. Mendez traveled north through Mexico in his early teens spending time in Puebla, Irapuato and La Barca. He immigrated to the United States in the 1960s in search of work and ultimately called Westley, California home before moving to Ceres. Mr. Mendez was a musician, “panadero” (baker), farm worker, and security guard.

Mr. Mendez had ten children with Ms. Victoria Castañeda (Armando, Jesus, Dolores, Miguelina, Angelica, Francisca, Martin, Guadalupe, Maria Elena and Ricardo). He is survived by seven of his children and their families all of whom live in Mexico.

Mr. Mendez considered Margarita Dimas and her children (Manuel, Yolanda, Martina, Leonel and Jose (Barriendos)) his second family. He is also remembered by his five nephews (Rene, Miguel, Roberto, Pedro and Raul) and their mother, his older brother’s wife (Aurora Mendez).

Visitation will be held on February 18, 2021 at 10:00am at Lakewood Funeral Home – Heritage Chapel, 900 Santa Fe Avenue, Hughson, CA followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00am and a Graveside Service at 12:00pm.

Masks are mandatory and guests will be required to adhere to social distance protocols during the services.
