Robert loved watching football, going to garage sales, and absolutely loved spending time with his grandkids. He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War, and proudly served in the Air Force. Later in life, he joined the American Legion. He was avid on helping others, including a young man named Koichi Imanishi, who remembers all that Robert and his family did for him years ago. Koichi moved back to Japan after his time with the Valenzuela/Brooks family, but came back to the States to pay his respects to Robert, and everything that Robert has done for him since he was young.
Robert is preceded in death by his first wife Esther Brooks and second wife Patsy Brooks, his stepson Barry McGee, and grandchild Phillip. He is survived by his children Gary S. Brooks, Merifrancine (Rick) Valenzuela, Victoria Brooks, & stepson Raymond (Marie) McGee, and his sisters Kathryn Brooks and Shirley Brooks. He is also survived by his grandchildren Lani (Kevin), Ricky (Julie), Stevie (Courtney), Robby (Debra), Matthew, Ryan, & Aimee (Josh), great-grandchildren Tori, Emma, Kaylee, Peyton, Brenden, Jake, Luke, Hunter, Zach, Connor, Presley, & Riley, and great-great-grandson Payton.
A memorial service for Robert will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home, 900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson CA 95326, starting at 1:00pm in the Riverside Chapel. Following the memorial service will be a graveside service to place Robert to eternal rest. An Honor Guard will be present to pay respect to Robert’s time in U.S. Air Force; if you are sensitive to loud noises, please bring a pair of ear-protectors or earplugs, as a 21 Gun Salute will commence at the graveside.
