Robert W. Kerr

Robert (Bob) W. Kerr peacefully passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at the Community Hospice in Hughson, CA at the age of 80. Bob was born May 10, 1932 in Concordia, Kansas. He was the second son of John H. and Dorothy Kerr. He moved to California at the age of two and attended Patterson grammar school. He later moved to Modesto and graduated from Modesto High in 1950. He also attended Modesto Junior College.

Bob is survived by Barbara, his wife of 54 years, his children; Robert Kerr Jr. (Sue Martin) of Modesto, Karen Thomas of Oakdale, Scott Kerr (Renee) of Ripon and Kristin Fusco (Jack) of Annapolis, Maryland. He leaves 8 grandchildren; Robbie Kerr, Lori Gannon (John), Jennifer Thomas, Justin Kerr (Aly), Jackie Howell (Michael) and Anthony, Chris and Mark Fusco. He is also survived by his brother, John Kerr (Marge) of Reno, Nevada and his sister, Dorothy Langill (Walter) of Hughson. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James Kerr (Grace).

After college, Bob began his career working for Modesto Finance and Thrift for the John Beard family, which was later acquired by Morris Plan and where he worked for nearly 30 years. In the early 1980s he started his own business, Central Auto Recovery Service, that he managed until 2011. Bob was a member of the Modesto Rotary Club for 48 years. He had perfect attendance for 47 years. He coached with Bel Passi Baseball and also served as treasurer for the organization. He was a member of SIRS, Branch 144, volunteered for the California Relays for many years and was the past president for the Modesto Junior Chamber of Commerce. He was an avid San Francisco 49er and Oakland A's fan.

A Memorial service will be held at the Riverside Chapel at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Community Hospice at 4368 Spyres Way in Modesto, CA 95356 or the Modesto Rotary Foundation at P.O.
