Wilda graduated from Ceres Union High School June 1955. She served on the yearbook staff, past vice president, secretary and chaplain of Tri Y Theta Chi. She was also affiliated with the Girls Athletic Association and Spanish Club.
Wilda married her high school love Norman E. Hyer on May 10th, 1955 at the Ceres Baptist Church. They celebrated 67 years of marriage. They had four children: Nathan Earl, Warren Mark, Stanley Roy and Renee Barbara Hyer. She was a long-time member of Ceres First Baptist Church and the Circle 3 of Trinity United Presbyterian Church. After marriage Wilda became very active in the wedding industry as a wedding planner.
Wilda loved decorating and flowers. Her great grandchildren inherited her love of tea parties and each were given their own special teacups, ornaments for Christmas, and gifts from her travels. She enjoyed taking her grandchildren and their spouses to theater shows and art classes. She was happy vacationing with her grandsons and later with all her great grandchildren on trips to Monterey, Hawaii, Arkansas, Disneyland, and many other places.
Wilda loved to travel the world and take cruises with her husband. Closer to home she enjoyed camping in their fifth wheel. Wilda learned to scuba dive because Norman enjoyed it but she went only in warm water and said she would never scuba dive in Monterey again because it was too cold. She also took flying lessons and almost got her pilot’s license.
Wilda is survived by her husband Norman Hyer, son Warren (Ellie) Hyer, grandson Garrett (Katie) Hyer and daughter Addyson Kay; grandson, Zachary (Ashley) Hyer and children Alice Mae, Liam Mark, and Stella Rae.
