William, age 78, was born in Versailles, Missouri to Hiram and Lula Davenport and moved to California in his teens. William married Violet O'Hara in 1955 and they were married for 55 years. He was a long time resident of Hughson, CA., and passed peacefully with his family by his side in Modesto, CA. after a short illness (pancreatic cancer).
William served in the US Army from 1953-1956. He was employed with Foster Farms as an electrician for 42 years before retiring in 2000. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling.
He is survived by his children, Willie (Donna), Jean (Larry), Ruth, Jim (Kathleen); 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his parents Hiram and Lula, his loving wife Violet; sister Katherine, two brothers; Amel and George and a daughter, Edna.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 11 from 4-8 PM, with a chapel service on Thursday, September 12 at 1:00 PM (Heritage Chapel) both at Lakewood Funeral Home, 900 Santa Fe Ave., Hughson, CA. Lakewood Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.
