Joseph Rea Rochon

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rea Rochon, who left us peacefully at the Hull Hospital on November 7, 2025, at the age of 88. Born in Ottawa, Ontario, on January 17, 1937, Rea was a proud and well-loved resident of Aylmer, Quebec.

Rea will be lovingly remembered by his life partner Margo Le Guerrier; his children André, Renée (Bryan Gagnon), and Paul (Josée Paquin); and his stepchildren Bert Le Guerrier (Martine), Paul Le Guerrier (Ruby), and Julie Le Guerrier (Alain). He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Michelle, Dominique, Émile, Alexis, Ethan, Wade, and Jacob, and a cherished friend to Jean Pilon (Lynn), along with many other relatives and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

He was predeceased by his parents, Eugene Rochon and Winifred Ivy Rea, as well as his sister Jean (Len Hanson).

Rea was a man with a big heart, sharp wit, and a contagious laugh. His sense of humour and kind nature drew people in wherever he went. A passionate and accomplished golfer having scored 7 holes-in-one over his lifetime. He could often be found on the course with friends, enjoying the game as much as the company. Recently he enjoyed spending his time with cherished friends walking and talking at Galerie d’Aylmer, where laughter and friendship filled his days.

Rea took great pride in his service with the Royal Canadian Air Force, and in his work at the Aylmer Hotel, and a long career with the CRTC. He approached life with laughter, humility, and a genuine appreciation for the people around him.

In keeping with Rea’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Those who wish to honour his memory may do so by making a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Rea will be remembered always for his humour, kindness, and love of life — a man who made the world lighter simply by being in it.

C'est avec une profonde tristesse que nous annonçons le décès de Rea Rochon, qui nous a quittés paisiblement à l'Hôpital de Hull le 7 novembre 2025, à l'âge de 88 ans. Né à Ottawa, en Ontario, le 17 janvier 1937, Rea était un résident fier et bien-aimé d'Aylmer, au Québec.

Il laisse dans le deuil sa tendre amie de compagnie Margo Le Guerrier; ses enfants André, Renée (Bryan Gagnon), et Paul (Josée Paquin); et ses beaux-enfants Bert Le Guerrier (Martine), Paul Le Guerrier (Ruby), et Julie Le Guerrier (Alain). Il était un grand-père fier et dévoué pour Michelle, Dominique, Émile, Alexis, Ethan, Wade, et Jacob, et un ami cher de Jean Pilon (Lynn). Il laisse également de nombreux autres parents et amis proches.

Il fut précédé par ses parents, Eugene Rochon et Winifred Ivy Rea, ainsi que par sa sœur Jean (Len Hanson).

Rea était un homme au grand cœur, doté d'un esprit vif et d'un rire contagieux. Son sens de l'humour et sa nature bienveillante attiraient les gens partout où il allait. Golfeur passionné et accompli, il a réalisé 7 trous d'un coup au cours de sa vie. On le retrouvait souvent sur le parcours avec des amis, profitant autant du jeu que de la compagnie. Récemment, il aimait passer du temps avec des amis chers à marcher et discuter au Galerie d'Aylmer, où rires et amitié remplissaient ses journées.

Rea était très fier de son service dans la Force aérienne royale canadienne, de son travail à l'Hôtel d'Aylmer, et de sa longue carrière au CRTC. Il abordait la vie avec rire, humilité, et une véritable appréciation des personnes qui l'entouraient.

Conformément aux souhaits de Rea, il n'y aura ni visites ni service funéraire. Ceux qui souhaitent honorer sa mémoire peuvent le faire par un don à la Fondation des maladies du cœur et de l'AVC.

Rea sera toujours rappelé pour son humour, sa gentillesse, et son amour de la vie — un homme qui rendait le monde plus léger simplement par sa présence.
