Simone (Chartrand) Fournier

C'est avec grande tristesse que nous vous faisons part du décès de Madame Simone Fournier (née Chartrand), qui est décédée paisiblement le 13 mai 2025 à l’âge de 91 ans, à Gatineau (Hull), Québec.

Épouse bien-aimée pour plus de 65 ans de feu Harvey Fournier, mère aimante de Richard (Patricia) et Linda (Chris) et grand-maman chérie de Nicolas.

Elle laisse également dans le deuil son frère Jean-Guy (Louise), ses soeurs Laurette et Guylaine, ainsi que plusieurs beaux-frères, belles-sœurs, neveux, nièces, parents et amis. Simone est prédécédée par ses parents Aurel Chartrand et Rosana Servant, ses frères Réal et Michel (Carole), et ses soeurs Yvette (Lucien) et Johanne.

Simone est née à Chénéville et a grandi près de Lachute. Elle a rencontré son âme soeur, Harvey, alors qu'elle travaillait dans un restaurant. Simone ne parlait que le français, Harvey que l’anglais, mais c’était le coup de foudre. Ils se marient en 1954 et emménagent dans leur seul et unique nid d’amour à Gatineau (Hull).

Une jeune Simone a travaillé au restaurant Murray's de Montréal et celui d'Ottawa à l'hôtel Lord Elgin. Elle a ensuite connu une longue carrière de plus de 30 ans couronnée de succès au sein du gouvernement fédéral en technologie de l'information.

Une femme au coeur d'or qui a toujours mis les besoins et le bien-être de sa famille en premier, on se souviendra tendrement de Simone pour sa bonté, son sourire chaleureux, son amour et dévouement envers sa famille, et sa joie de préparer de bons repas et de recevoir sa famille et ses amis.

La famille tient à remercier le personnel du CHSLD La Pietà pour leur soutien et les soins attentionnés.

Un service religieux aura lieu à la maison funéraire Racine, Robert & Gauthier Beauchamp, 271 boul. St-Joseph à Gatineau, le vendredi 6 juin 2025 à 13h. La famille recevra les condoléances à compter de 12h30.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mrs Simone Fournier (née Chartrand) who passed away peacefully on May 13, 2025 at the age of 91, in Gatineau(Hull), Quebec.

Beloved wife for over 65 years of the late Harvey Fournier, loving mother of Richard (Patricia) and Linda (Chris) and cherished grandma of Nicolas.

She is also survived by her brother Jean-Guy (Louise), her sisters Laurette and Guylaine, and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, family and friends.

Simone is predeceased by her parents Aurel Chartrand and Rosana Servant, her brothers Réal and Michel (Carole), and her sisters Yvette (Lucien) and Johanne.

Simone was born in Chénéville, and grew up near Lachute. She met her soul mate, Harvey, while she was working in a restaurant. Simone only spoke French, Harvey only English, but it was love at first sight. They married in 1954 and moved into their one and only love nest in Gatineau (Hull).

A young Simone worked at Murray's restaurant in Montreal and its Ottawa location in the Lord Elgin hotel. She then had a long and successful career of over 30 years within the federal government in information technology.

A woman with a heart of gold who always put the needs and well-being of her family first, Simone will be fondly remembered for her kindness, her warm smile, her love and devotion to her family, and her joy in preparing great meals and entertaining family and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at the CHSLD La Pietà for their support and attentive care.

A religious service will be held at Racine, Robert & Gauthier Beauchamp Funeral Home, 271 St-Joseph Blvd, Gatineau, on Friday, June 6, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive condolences at 12:30 p.m.
