It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our wonderful mother, Susan Margaret Dunn, born on June 28th, 1957. Mom left us just short of her 68th birthday on Sunday May 25th. She passed surrounded by her family and supported by the wonderful staff at Kingston General Hospital, where she succumbed to complications due to a shocking cancer discovery on May 7th.
Su, known to many as Mama Su, had a simple life dedicated to caring and uplifting others, a tireless work ethic and a resilient positive spirit. Her love was a constant source of comfort and inspiration, guiding her children through life's challenges with grace, unwavering support and unconditional love. Her special passion was being Nina to her loving grandchildren. Nina knew each one of their hearts, took the time with them and was so proud of her little angels.
Beyond her role as a mother, Su was a valued member of her community and really took pride in the work she did with seniors and her work families over the years like Lanak Lodge, Canada Post, Perth Community Care, The Parkside Hotel, and most recently at Carolina Court. Her spirit of generosity touched countless lives, leaving a legacy of kindness, compassion and laughter.
She is survived by her children, Natasha Villeneuve, Jacob Villeneuve (Lisa Leblanc), Alexander Kato and Nicholas Kato (Abigail Hughes-Kato); and grandchildren, Anika and Kamri Wilson, Kenneth Carson, Orielle, Maxime Villeneuve, Sakura and Taiyo Kato.
Su was born in Pembroke, an army brat from Petawawa she spent her adolescence in Aylmer, Québec before making Perth her home in 1980.
Susan was predeceased by her parents which she treasured, Jacqueline and Kenneth Dunn. She will be dearly missed by her surviving siblings Michael (Lynn), Tom (Vivian), Denise, John and David.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Parkside Hotel in Perth, Ontario on Saturday, June 7 at 2 pm in the Stewart room. In lieu of flowers, a GoFund me page has been created to help support Su's 7 grandchildren with post secondary education.
Hey there i'm reaching out to share something close to my heart: Nina's Grandbaby Education Fund. Every contribution helps support her seven wonderful grandchildren as they pursue their dreams in education, carrying on her legacy of love and encouragement. If you could take a moment to click the link below to donate or share it with others, it would mean so much to us!
