Our sister Vivianne passed away peacefully on June 14, 2025 at the Hull Hospital in Gatineau, Quebec. She is survived by her brothers and sisters: Denise Marquis, who held her hand to the very end, Gilles Gelinas, Louise Wheaton, Raymond Gelinas, Elaine Thompson, Mark Gelinas and Anne Marie Carroll.
In addition to her siblings are 37 first, second and third generation nieces and nephews.
Vivianne moved to Quebec in her early 30’s, a few years after her husband, Norman Foster passed away. She studied at Laval University and later worked as a teacher and a translator for the Quebec Government. After retirement, she started her own very successful translation company called Traduction Velina Inc.
Our sister loved to travel, dressed en vogue, enjoyed cooking and eating out. She adored her Westie, Peggy and spent much time with her watching TV.
Vivianne was a generous soul and donated to many charities for children, animals, medical research and museums.
Vivianne always had a positive outlook on life and never let difficult times envelope her psyche. Vivianne’s second love was Evarest Bernier and they lived happily until he passed away in 1998.
Vivianne was our matriarch and she will be remembered by her family and especially her good friend Katherine Chase, who believed Vivianne’s name suited her well for words like: vivacious, vivid, vibrant, vitality and vocal.
