Clayton was his mother’s pride and joy who was born on Christmas eve day. His youth was filled with wonderful times growing up on the island of Antigua. In his early years, he was a sprinter in school winning many relays. Often, he would recall his time spent with his paternal grandfather, Desmond who took him on trips. He was employed by Antigua Sugar factory where he befriended lifetime friends. He was a superb Mechanic and was sought out by many persons to repair their vehicles. He loved vehicles especially Ford. However, he was adept at many other trades such as plumbing and construction.
After relocating to the Virgin Islands, he worked at Louis Lindquist Sales Corporation, and he decided to enroll in Mechanic School earning him a degree in automotive repair. While employed at Airport Shell, he apprenticed many young men in automotive repair; recalling his encounter when an airplane overshot the airport and landed into the Airport Shell Gas Station. He also worked at Avis and Vitran, after this he became a small entrepreneur providing trucking service.
Clayton loved to travel, he loved the sea; he owned and piloted his own boat. He also loved going to Old Town Spring to watch the trains go by. Our last trip together was an Alaskan Cruise.
As his health started declining, he relocated to Texas to be near his children and grandchildren. He had a unique sense of wit finding a way to change names with a twist, he enjoyed the outdoors, loved to plant, and eat fresh foods, he especially enjoyed his children and grandchildren encouraging them to do well and to keep out of trouble.
He had a big heart and would lend a helping hand to anyone. As his health became a challenge, he got assistance from aides, and he was very gracious and kind. Clayton left this world a little better than he found it. On Monday, October 25th he quietly departed this world may his soul rest in eternal peace.
