Flavia Querubé Garvey Elmore, age 62, of Tomball, Texas, passed away peacefully at Hospice Austin’s Christopher House on Monday, October 16, 2017 following a courageous battle with cancer. Flavia was born in Panamá, Republic of Panamá to the union of Clifford and Ruby Garvey.
Flavia was a 1974 graduate of the Art and Design High School in New York City. In 2006, Flavia earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice – Summa Cum Laude from the American Intercontinental University. Flavia had a notable career in law enforcement. Prior to her retirement, she served as a police officer in the Klein ISD Police Department from 1998 to 2014 and as a police officer with Cleveland Police Department. Flavia had an exemplary tenure as a criminal justice and corrections professional with the Harris County Juvenile Probation Department and the New York City Department of Corrections.
Flavia met and married, James Keith Elmore in 1976. To this union, one daughter, Flavia Eunique, was born.
Flavia was a faithful member of the Spring Creek Seventh Day Adventist Church where she loved serving the Lord as a Sabbath school teacher. She loved to teach and sing but one of her greatest passions was to paint and draw. Flavia also enjoyed long walks as a police officer, cooking, traveling and making others smile. She made numerous friends wherever she went and will be sincerely missed by everyone who knew her. Flavia was devoted to her family and will be remembered as a true friend, sister, daughter and mother.
Flavia leaves to celebrate her life, her mother Ruby M. Garvey of Tomball, Texas; daughter Flavia Eunique Gleim and husband Richard of Pflugerville, Texas; sisters Margot Garvey Preyer of Houston, Texas, Beverly Patricia Barber of San Antonio, Texas, Eloisa Garvey Brown of Columbus, Georgia and brother Clifford D. Garvey, Jr. and wife Xiomara of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and former spouse Solomon R. Cook of Humble, Texas as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews and countless friends.
Flavia was preceded in rest by her dad Clifford D. Garvey, Sr. (Epé) and husband James K. Elmore.
