George C Hopper, Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend was born on November 15, 1932. He enlisted in the Army and served our Country in the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953. He married JoAnn Partridge (Hopper) on August 9, 1951 and they have celebrated 65 years of marriage. George passed on January 26, 2018 surrounded by family. He was 85 years old.
George was an entrepreneur and inspiration. He left Mississippi with his wife and moved to Houston, TX where he became a Body Man’s Apprentice. He learned the auto repair craft and, after having 4 children, opened his own body shop. His wife and he grew the shop into one of the largest auto repair shops on the Northside of Houston, TX. He sold the business and retired and enjoyed being with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved supporting them in their pursuits and hobbies. George is survived by his wife, JoAnn Hopper, daughter, Teresa (Hopper) Slinkard and son-in-law, Troy Slinkard, Sons, Joe Hopper and Bobby Hopper and wife Cami, Several Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in Death by his parents, Albert and Rosa Hopper, his son, Andy Hopper and a Granddaughter, Haley Fuller.
George loved his Houston Astro’s, the Houston Rockets and spending time reflecting on the “good old’ days”. One of his favorite sayings was:
“A short pencil is better than a long memory”
He was very proud that of his children and grandchildren and of all of their accomplishments.
He was a blessing to all and will be missed until we all meet again.
