

Jack was a devout Christian from a very young age. He delivered his first sermon at the age of 15. He was later ordained by Bible Way Temple as a non-denominational minister and was given the position of associate pastor. He went on to become a visiting minister for several churches in Houston and surrounding areas. He especially enjoyed teaching adult bible study.
Jack was an extraordinary carpenter and builder. He was a great athlete and loved all sports. In the early to mid 60s, Jack was given the opportunity to play Semi-Pro football for a local team here in the Houston area. He was a well rounded athlete and played both offense and defense. He loved playing golf, baseball and dancing. Jack later joined the Harris County Senior Softball League in 1993, where he played and managed off and on for over 20 years. He loved the game. Most of all, he loved the players and the many friendships he made along the way.
Jack is survived by his children Dianne Medcalf of Houston, Michael Lawson and wife Dolores of Conroe, Joanne Dixon of Marble Falls, Mark Lawson of Kyle, 8 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Barbara Horelica of Pasadena, 1 niece, 4 great nephews and 1 great-grand niece.
He is preceded in death by his granddaughter Jennifer Hardgrove, son-in-law Tim Dixon, daughter-in-law Tricia Lawson and niece Candan Tautenhahn.
A memorial service will be held at Chapelwood Methodist Church in Houston, Texas on October 15, 2022 at 11:00 am.
