Jerry Nixon, 83, of Spring, Texas, passed away, Sunday, February 25, 2018 in Cypress, Texas. Jerry was born February 13, 1935 in Ozark, Arkansas to Fauls and Myna Nixon. Jerry’s family moved to Houston, where he graduated high school, enlisted in the Marines Corps., and attended the University of Houston. After returning home to Houston from the Marine Corps., he met Dottie and the two married on June 24, 1960, they had two sons, Roger (49), & Scott (43).
Jerry’s professional career was spent in the oilfield industry. He worked for Republic Supply, Thornhill Craver and M & M Service. In 1993, he and his son’s formed Houston Pressure Equipment. He enjoyed working with his son’s. Even after he semi-retired, he continued to go into the office each day to stay active. During his 60+ year career in the oil & gas industry, Jerry made numerous friends whom he continued to keep in contact with. Some of which included the Thursday Spaghetti lunch at Sacred Heart and the Hickory Hollow group on Fridays. Jerry was a long time member of Bammel Church of Christ in Houston, Texas and also part of the Prime Timers group.
Jerry enjoyed helping people. If there was ever anything anyone needed, Jerry was the go to guy. He could always find a “good deal”. Jerry was also an avid sports fan. He loved watching football, basketball, baseball and golf. He was the “ultimate” armchair referee and quarterback. Jerry also enjoyed his quiet time up at Lake Livingston.
Jerry was a loving husband, father, friend and mentor. He was loved by all, he touched many lives and will be missed by everyone. Jerry is survived by Sister Gloria, Brother Gail, his two sons, Roger and wife Bettina of Cypress, TX and Scott of Houston, TX.; 15 nieces and nephews and 28 great nieces and great nephews. He is preceded in rest by his parents, wife Dottie, sister Bobbie and brother Dow.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2018, from 4:30pm until 7:30pm, at Calvary Hill funeral home, 21723 Aldine-Westfield Rd Humble, Texas 77338. A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00am, Friday, March 2 at Calvary Hill Funeral Home, 21723 Aldine-Westfield Rd Humble, Texas 77338.
Committal Service will be held Friday, March 2, 2018 at 3:00pm at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale Avenue, Houston, TX 77023.
