

He attended public schools in Los Angeles California. He continued his education at the Los Angeles technical institute where he received his certification as a machinist. As a machinist he worked for Reed Tool and FMC. Leon also worked for Hermann Memorial Hospital Security Division where he retired after twenty-one years of service in 1998.
On July 9, 1983, he met and married Dorothy (Wilkins). They were blessed with thirty-five years of marital bliss.
Leon was a true man of God that loved working in God's vineyard. He was ordained in 1994 at New Mount Sinai Outreach Fellowship Church under the leadership of the late Reverend L.D. Smith. Also while serving he was a Deacon at New Life in Christ under Pastor Frank Maxie and served as chairman emeritus at Greater New Victory under pastor C.D. Wilkins.
Leon has now reunited with his mother and father whom preceded him in death. Deacon leaves to mourn, his wife: Dorothy; one sister Angela; Daughters: Denise, Dedra, Alice, Tina, Melodie, Sabrina, Maya, Lori, Linda, and Billie Jean; Sons: Leon Jr., Erick, Jeremy, Alton, Charles, Kenneth, Rick; cousins: Marie, Melba (Howard); twenty-five grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, ten great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
