Ruben Garcia Losoya of Houston, TX passed away on June 25th, 2020 at the age of 76. Though he fought valiantly, he ultimately lost his battle against COVID-19.
Born in Mercedes, TX on October 24th, 1943 to Manuel G. Losoya and Maria Consuelo Ledesma Linares, Ruben spent his youth exploring the country, hunting, fishing, and working with his family. He was a man of his word and never backed down from any challenge life threw at him. In his lifetime, Ruben was a hard worker that partook in many trades, including farmer, kitchen hand, baker, shoe shiner, chauffeur, truck driver, and mechanic. He finally retired from Aldine ISD in 2015 after serving 37 years and holding multiple positions during his tenure at the Aldine Bus Barn. However, his greatest accomplishment was being a loving father. He showed his children the value of hard work and gave them the opportunities they needed to have a better life.
Ruben was happily married to his wife, Altagracia Aguilar Perez Losoya, for 33 years. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and loved to show his grandchildren and great-grandchildren the interesting items he had collected over the years. He always had the perfect story or joke to tell, and he brought life into any room he was in. For this reason and many others, he will be missed.
Incredibly selfless and wise, Ruben was the type of person that people would go to for advice, and he was always there to support his loved ones. If there was something you needed, he would try to get it for you; if he couldn't get it, he would try to make it for you. He loved helping others and found joy in providing smiles and laughter, whether he knew someone for his whole life or had just met them moments before.
Ruben is survived by his wife, Altagracia Aguilar Perez Losoya; daughter Angela Losoya; sons Roy C. Losoya (Sheri Losoya), Ruben Losoya Jr. (Iris Ybarra), Ray Abel Losoya (Sandra Castillo Galvan), Adrian Losoya (Cecilia Losoya), and Anthony Losoya; eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews; sisters Victoria Mechlor, Elodia Campos, Jeanie Mary Rodriguez, Josefina Rodriguez, Ofelia Magallon, and Andrea Montes; brothers Jose Luis Losoya and Israel Losoya; and countless lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by brother Jose “Pepe” Losoya; sisters Hermalinda Meyo, Irma Losoya, Diana Saldana, and Mariana Barrera; son Ramiro C. Losoya; and daughter Claudia G. Losoya.
