Essra was born on April 23, 1948 in Philadelphia, PA, to parents, Henry (Hank) Hurvitz and Ann Sosnow-Hurvitz. She graduated from Northeast High in Philadelphia. She continued her education, attending The Philadelphia College of Art. Essra went on to establish a career as a song writer and performer. Essra’s album “Primordial Lovers” was named by Rolling Stone magazine “One of the best 25 albums ever made.”
Essra is survived by Nicole Hurvitz, Jeff Hurvitz, Heather Lazar and Kimberly Ristine.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service at Lamb Funeral Home, 101 Byberry Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006, from 1:00PM – 2:00PM with burial at Shalom Cemetery to follow.
