Saramma Mathew Ninan, 87, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on Friday, November 20, 2020. Due to CDC guidelines, private funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery, Huntingdon Valley, PA. Saramma was born on January 4, 1933 in Mallapally, Kerala India. She was the eldest of five children to the late Vellikara Gheevarghese Mathai and Sosamma Mathai of Mallapally, Kerala. She is the elder sister of Mariamma Mathai, Varghese Vellikara, Annamma Kurian and Samuel Vellikara. She was the devoted wife of the late Mr. K.T. Ninan. She was an affectionate mother to three children and a doting grandmother to 7 grandchildren.
Saramma completed her high school education in Mallapally, Kerala and then went on to nursing school in Bombay (Mumbai), India. After nursing school she worked as a nurse at Kasturba Medical Center in Bombay.
Saramma Mathew was married to K.T. Ninan on June 14, 1965. They settled in Bombay, India and started a family. In 1976, she emigrated to the Unites States of America to work as a nurse. The rest of the family followed shortly after and they settled in Philadelphia, PA. The family joined and became active members of a small fledgling church which is today St. Gregorios Malankara Orthodox Church, Bensalem, PA.
Saramma Ninan was a Registered Nurse at Temple University Hospital for two decades. She led a devoted life by serving family, church and society with her God given talents. We celebrate her life and her reunion with her beloved husband in heaven. She will be missed very much by all those who knew her.
