

Thelma Cooper was born on July 10, 1932 at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Thelma F. Williams and Leonard T. Jones Sr. She was one of five (5) children; Leonard T. Jones Jr., Edythe Ford-Bush, and two sisters who preceded her in death, Gloria T. Hunter and Ruth A. Richards.
Thelma attended the Philadelphia Public School System where she graduated from the Overbrook High School. Upon her graduation she found employment at SKF. She later left that job to take employment at Chestnut Hill College in the Residence Halls. She later left there to take a position in Housekeeping at Chestnut Hill Hospital, where she retired.
As a child Thelma and her siblings were in church on a regular basis. They were baptized and nurtured in the Calvary Episcopal Church at 41st & Brown Streets under the pastorate of Father Logan. There they attended Sunday School, sang in the choir and was at Mass each Sunday. Church became a very crucial part of her life throughout her time on earth.
Thelma met Victor Johnson earlier in life and from that relationship her first child, Victor Johnson (Jr) was born. As that relationship dissolved she met another dear individual, Robert Cooper and from that bond her daughter Gina Cooper was born. Thelma really loved her family and would do whatever she could for them.
Thelma was a very intelligent individual. She loved telling jokes and making people laugh. She really enjoyed traveling, going to the theater shows and trips to the casinos. She was a person with a very good memory and could remember things from early on in her life. She was independent person who knew well what she wanted and how she wanted it. She really loved her Church and immensely enjoyed coming to family gatherings.
Thelma leaves to cherish her memory her brother Leonard T. Jones Jr., her sister Edythe Ford-Bush, two children; Gina Cooper ( husband Mustafa) and Victor Johnson (wife Jacqueline), four grandchildren; Cleveland, Errick, Isaac, and Carlo, ten (10) great grandchildren and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
