Betty Z. Williams, 93 of Roanoke passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice in Fort Wayne. Betty was a 1945 graduate of Jefferson Center High school in Whitley County. She was a secretary in the Officer’s Replacement Pool Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Aberdeen, Maryland, and was later secretary to the district officer of the USO in El Paso, Texas. Betty was a co-owner and secretary treasurer of Economy Machine Products for 17 years and was bookkeeper and helper on the family farm for 15 years. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Betty was born on December 23, 1927 in Whitley County, the daughter of the late Chester and Essie (Gillam) Hollenbaugh. She was united in marriage to James Williams on March 1, 1945. James survives. Survivors include a daughter: Tamara S. Williams of Garrett; a daughter-in-law: Jean Williams of Whitley County; four grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son: Randall Williams; two brothers: Elwood “Woodie” Hollenbaugh, Theda “Ted” Hollenbaugh and a sister-in-law: Betty Jean Hollenbaugh. Private family services will be held at the Faith Lutheran Church in Roanoke. There will be a Public Memorial Service at a later date. Interment will be at the Glenwood Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made out to Faith Lutheran Church or Visiting Nurse and Hospice both in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
