Billy Lew Mundy, 87 of Huntington passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Huntington. Billy was a 1950 graduate of Andrews High School. He served in the U.S. Army stateside from 1953 – 1955. He had attended Purdue University Winter Agriculture Courses for two years. He had farmed in Dallas Township for most of his adult life. Billy established Tuliplane Tree Farm in 1988, planting 22 acres of timber through the years. He worked hard to plant and care for a variety of trees; walnut and acorns and worked with the Indiana State Forestry Department for 25 years to improve the timber stand on his farm. He had worked at Celotex Corporation in Lagro for 28 years. He enjoyed hearing about the interests of his grandchildren and being entertained by his great grandchildren, bowling and pitching horseshoes in Huntington. He was a frequent visitor to shut-ins and nursing home friends and relatives. He loved the dogs who were a part of the family over the years. Billy was a blood donor as long as his health allowed. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Bippus. Billy was born on May 27, 1932 and lived in Steuben County until he was 6 years old when the family moved to Dallas Township in Huntington County, the son of Wilbur E. and Hazel M. (Emley) Mundy. He was united in marriage to Mabel Bolinger on September 13, 1959 in South Whitley. His wife survives. Additional survivors include two daughters and a son: Angela M. (Kyle) Schmidt of Fountaintown, IN; Michael A. (Jeana) Mundy of Andrews; Patricia A. Fusselman and Dan Hooks of Wilmington, NC; eight grandchildren: Kayla Schmidt of Morristown, IN; Caleb (Michaela) Schmidt of Greenfield, IN; Cody Schmidt of Fountaintown, IN; Levi (Cortney) Mundy of Indianapolis; Nathan (Jordan) Mundy of Andrews; Ashley Fusselman and Adam Dyer of Huntington; Austin (Taryn) Fusselman; Adrienne (Matt) Brown and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son: James L. Mundy, a great grandson: David L. Brown and two sisters: Martha Hollingsed and Joan Schmalzried. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 27, 2019 from 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am with one hour of visitation prior to the service on Monday, October 28, 2019 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 7955 N. 900 W. in Bippus, Indiana. Interment will be at the South Whitley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, preferred memorial donations can be made out to Calvary United Methodist Church in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
