Dixie L. Pettit, 69 of Fort Wayne passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Fort Wayne. Dixie had worked as a custodian at the Huntington YMCA. She was a speaker and advocate for People’s First and was a volunteer for activities at Byron Health Center and Miller’s Merry Manor. Dixie loved bingo, bowling and spending time with her friends. She traveled to Australia for People First. She was the most loyal friend anyone could ever have. Dixie was born on September 23, 1950 in Huntington, the daughter of Gilbert and Anna Jane (Pequignot) Pettit. Survivors include: three sisters; one brother; dear friend: Elizabeth Johnson; extended family: Matt (Alison) Tackett, David Tackett, Sarah Locastro, Jacob Tindall, David Locastro and her munchkins: Karlee and Trey Tackett and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2019 from 9:00 am – 10:00 am at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana. Memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 16, 2019 following visitation at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel. Interment will be at the Star of Hope Cemetery in Huntington County. Memorial donations can be made out to Miller’s Merry Manor Activity Department or Byron Health Center both in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
