Gladys V. Mote Szelis

Gladys Vera Szelis, 91 of Huntington passed away at 12:28 pm on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Oakbrook Village. Gladys was a homemaker and had attended the Faith Chapel Nazarene Church. She was a 1940 graduate of Huntington High school. Gladys was an avid train enthusiast; she collected rocks and loved to travel. She was a very religious person.

Gladys was born April 14, 1921 in Huntington a daughter of Leander and Dorothy May (Brann) Mote. She was united in marriage to Robert Szelis on June 22, 1940. He preceded her in death on September 2, 1993.

Survivors include a brother: Kenny (Ruth) Mote of Fort Wayne, and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Marilyn J. Myers, three brothers: Donald Mote, Robert Mote and Raymond Mote and a sister Marjorie Karst.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 from 1:00 – 2:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 2:00 pm following visitation at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Pastor Joe Hostetler officiating.

Memorials are to American Kidney Fund in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.

Interment will take place in the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
