Janet L. Brown, 79 of Huntington passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Dupont Hospital in Fort Wayne. Janet was a member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. She worked for several years at Huntington Herald Press and was proud to have worked for former United States Vice President Dan Quayle. She also worked at Huntington Lab / EcoLab for many years. In her later years, she worked at Dorothy’s Hallmark as well as Bowen Center in Huntington. Janet was a wonderful and loving mother to her two daughters. She enjoyed spending time with her family, which included trips and going out to eat. She loved to read, especially romance novels. Janet loved being a grandma and attending her grandchildren’s events and activities. She was loved by so many for her warm spirit and kind heart. Janet was born on June 28, 1943 in Huntington, the daughter of John and Frieda (Bailey) Riggers. Survivors include two daughters: Jennifer (Jay) Redner of Huntington, Jamie Brown of Huntington; eight grandchildren: Trey Redner, Riley Velez, Emma (Branson) Green, Amaya Torres, Ana Redner, Julia Redner, Maddon Velez, Leyton Velez; a great grandchild due in September: Amelia Velez; brother-in-law: Ned Short, sister-in-law: Jacquelyn Riggers; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, a sister: Judith Short and a brother: Gary Riggers. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2022 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 1, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel. Interment will follow at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Huntington. Memorial donations can be made out to Huntington House, which supports single mothers and their children, in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
