Linda C. McConnell

Our beloved Linda C. McConnell, 75 of Huntington, peacefully and joyfully passed into the loving arms of Jesus, her Lord and Savior, on Thursday, March 5, 2020. She no longer struggles with the cancer that took her physical life, but rejoices in heaven with the Lord. Linda received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Huntington University, and a Master’s Degree in Education from Indiana University. For 21 years, she was a Kindergarten and first grade teacher in the Huntington County Community School System. Linda cared for her students, and loved them as her own. She was an active member in the “Stamping Up” community, and built many relationships there. Her creativity was expressed through beautiful cards and mementos given to family and friends. She was a member of Emmanuel Community Church. She leaves a legacy of love and selflessness that is expressed and carried on through her family, friends, and the many, many lives she touched throughout her lifetime. Linda was born on November 26, 1944 in Hornell, NY, the daughter of Phillip Wayne and Eleanor Ina (Phillips) Colegrove. Linda leaves her earthly family: husband Richard; children, Rebecca (Keith) Lord, Sean (Laura) McConnell, and Jason (Betsy) McConnell; brother, Gary (Regina) Colegrove; grandchildren, Ashley, Alex (Emily), Bryce (Ada), Devon, Jade (Don), Jensen, Colegrove, Carter, Caeden, Eli, Emma, Quinn, and Finley; seven great-grandchildren and a niece. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2020 from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at the Emmanuel Community Church, Main Campus, 12222 U.S. 24 West, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Memorial service will be held on Monday, March 9, 2020 at 11:00 am with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Emmanuel Community Church, Main Campus with Pastor Gary Dilley officiating. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Huntington University, or Emmanuel Community Church in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
