Lonnie E. "Ed" Hyder, 75, of Huntington, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at his home. Ed was a 1968 graduate of Northside High School. He graduated from Purdue University in 1989 with a degree in Manufacturing Engineering. Ed retired from Peerless Machine & Tool Corp in 2014. During his career he had four patents filed in his name. Throughout his life Ed had many K-9 companions that he loved dearly. Ed enjoyed playing golf, sailing his boats, going for long drives, and traveling all over the world. Ed and his wife enjoyed dancing throughout the years including clogging, square dancing and ballroom dancing. Ed was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He will be greatly missed.
Ed was born on January 10, 1950 in Johnson City TN, a son of the late Hartley and Sylvia (Tester) Hyder.
He was united in marriage to Linda S. Caldwell on January 17, 1970 in Fort Wayne. His wife survives in Huntington.
Additional survivors include a daughter: Leslie (Chris) Regan of Huntington; a granddaughter: Maggie (Jacob Worsham) Regan of Huntington; a brother: Tom (Jody) Hyder of Indianapolis; a special niece: Helen (Charles) Ade of Fort Wayne, and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter: Leah Hyder, and a brother: Hartley Hyder Jr.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday October 1, 2025 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, located at 2910 Guilford Street, Huntington IN 46750.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday October 1, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. immediately following the visitation at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel.
Interment will be held at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery at a late date.
