Marian J. Hammel, 95 of Huntington passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice in Fort Wayne. Marian was a 1942 graduate of Huntington High School. She was a member of Kingdom Hall, Jehovah’s Witness. She had worked at Memcor Corporation in Huntington for seven years and also had worked at Seamco in South Whitley for three years, retiring in 1984.
Marian was born on September 9, 1924 in Wabash, Indiana, the daughter of Ralph and Vera Joy (Needham) Steele.
She was united in marriage to Meredith Hammel on September 26, 1942 in Huntington. Meredith preceded her in death on July 1, 2004.
Survivors include three sons: Ronald (Debra) Hammel of Huntington; Steven (Shirley) Hammel of Florida: Brent (Kathleen) Hammel of Roanoke; a brother Donald Steele of Arizona; nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Ralph and Joy Steele; her husband: Meredith and a son: Terry Hammel.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 from 1:00pm – 2:00pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.
Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 following visitation at 2:00pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel.
Interment will be at the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.
