Max D. Richardson, 93 of Huntington passed to his Heavenly Home at 6:35 pm on October 1, 2019 at Tipton Place. Max was a Huntington County native, born on May 28, 1926 in Huntington, the son of Manford “Mandy” and Mary J. (Young) Richardson. He was a member of The Bethesda Free Will Baptist Church in Andrews for many years. He was a 1944 graduate of Huntington High School and also attended The Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin, graduating in 1968. Max was employed at the First National Bank in Huntington for 39 years, 1946 – 1985, and was later employed as Branch Manager of the Bippus State Bank Office in Huntington from 1985 until his retirement in 1988. On May 3, 1993 he was employed by CF Industries as a Safety Guard working there until retiring on June 23, 2010, after 17 years of service. After retiring, he and his wife Maxine enjoyed traveling and spending time with their children and their 6 grandchildren: Amy Richardson, Sarah (Joseph) Christ, Elijah (Katie Beth) Richardson, Rachel (Jordan) McCoy, Caleb Richardson, Rebecca Hauke and 10 great grandchildren. Max was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy Amphibious Forces until 1946 in the South Pacific. He was a 50 year member of Amity Lodge #483 in Huntington. He was a former member of the Fort Wayne Scottish Rite and the Mizpah Shrine. Former member of the Optimist Club, the Toastmasters Club and the Foremans Club later known as the Industrial Management Club. Max served as Huntington County Councilman 2nd District from 1978 until 1986. He was awarded the following Campaign Ribbons – Asiatic – Pacific, Philippine Campaign and American Theatre Victory Medal. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Maxine L. Schultz on March 3, 1945. Maxine preceded him in death on September 10, 2019. Survivors include two sons: Timothy (Rowena) Richardson of Huntington; Mark Richardson of Roanoke; a daughter: Ann (Dean) Hauke of Huntington; two brothers: Dean Richardson of LaMesa, CA; Lowell (Marjorie) Richardson of Andrews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant brother: Mark S. Richardson. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 4, 2019 from 11:00am – 2:00pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral service will be held following visitation at 2:00pm on Friday, October 4, 2019 at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Pastor Jeffrey Necessary officiating. Entombment will be at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made out to Heartland Hospice or Alzheimer’s Association both in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
