Caroline Ellis

YARMOUTHPORT- Caroline (Dolan) Ellis, 88, died peacefully on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Harold N. Ellis until his passing.

Born in Boston, MA on March 9, 1932, she was a daughter of the late George and Helen Dolan. Caroline was a lifelong resident of Yarmouthport and caretaker of her family’s ancestry and ancestral home. She held a Master’s Degree in Education and spent many years as a Kindergarten teacher on Long Island.

Caroline loved her village of Yarmouthport, serving as President of the Historical Society of Old Yarmouth, as well as The Friday Club. She also belonged to the Rug Hookers of Yarmouthport. Caroline was also a skilled painter. She was most known for her intricate and beautiful miniature paintings inside of Oyster shells.

She is survived and will be deeply missed by her nephew, Edward; nieces, Mary, Catherine, and Amy; step-children, Tracy, Jeannie, Roddy, and Karen; as well as many step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, grandnieces, and grandnephews; and so very many cousins.

In addition to her husband, Caroline was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Dolan; twin brother, James Dolan; and brother, Edward Shea.

At Caroline’s request, calling hours have been omitted. With STRICT adherence to COVID-19 health precautions and social distancing rules, a Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 28th at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Chapel, Summer St., Yarmouthport. Burial will take place directly following in Woodside Cemetery, Summer St., Yarmouthport.
