Charlotte Wheaton Bourne

She was the daughter of the late Hilda “Bearse” and Sydney C. Savage; born on November 17, 1924, in Hyannis, MA. She was the loving wife of the late Dr. George C Bourne, M.D. Charlotte was a Salem School of Nursing graduate and Registered Nurse and practiced at the Cape Cod Hospital, private duty service and for the Dr. George C. Bourne M.D. Family Practice in Hyannis. She was also a proud member of the U.S. Cadet Nurses Corps serving during WWII from 1943-1948, as a nursing student.

She was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Centerville, taught Sunday School and served on many church boards and committees.

Charlotte is survived by four children, Nikki Bourne-Hudick (Joseph) of Barnstable, MA, Kathy Cowley (Robert) of Springfield, VA, Georgia Bourne of Bourne, MA and Marko Bourne (Tamela) of New Freedom, PA. She was also the mother of the late James G. Bourne. She is also survived by five grandchildren; Andrea Joyce (her husband Robert), Georgia Cowley, Robert Cowley, Maggie Thomas and Ian Bourne and two great grandchildren, Nikolas Joyce and Logan Thomas.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to the Endowment Fund at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Centerville, MA.

A viewing will be held from 2-4pm on Wednesday December 7 at Doane Beal & Ames Funeral Home 160 West Main Street, Hyannis. The funeral service will be at 10am Thursday December 8 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church 1130 Falmouth Road (Rt. 28), Centerville and interment at Mosswood Cemetery in Cotuit.
