David M Peterson Jr.

David M. Peterson, Jr. (Pete) passed away peacefully May 20, 2013 at the age of 69. He was surrounded by his family after losing a courageous 3 year battle with cancer. He was the devoted husband of 46 years to Shirley (Yeomans) Peterson. Born March 11, 1944 to the late Natalie (Haynes) and David M. Peterson. He graduated from Canton High School in 1962 and then attended East Coast Aero Technical School before serving in the Navy Reserves for seven years as an aircraft mechanic.He worked for Haynes Garage in Canton until it became a dealership on Cape Cod in 1966. He was the Parts Manager for Haynes Pontiac until 1979. He became a Mac Tool distributor in 1982 winning several prestigious awards as a top 100 distributor. He made several long lasting friendships with his customers even after retiring in 2009. He was known for his sense of humor and his contagious smile. He loved Barnstable Harbor where he spent much of his time fishing, boating and clamming. Gardening and traveling played a big part in his recent retirement. He treasured the time he spent with his four grandchildren.

Pete is survived by and will be lovingly remembered by his family. Son: David (Leslie) Peterson of West Yarmouth and their son David. Daughter: Pam (Robert) Smith of Plymouth and their two children, Alyssa and Ryan. Son: Kevin (his fiancé Jennifer) of Yarmouthport and their son, Nathan. He is also survived by two brothers: Ralph of Harwich and Eric of Dennis, a sister: Diane (Fran) James of Wells, Maine and several nieces and nephews.

His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 W. Main St., Hyannis, MA 02601. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, at the funeral home.
