Dorothy M. O'Connell

Dorothy M. O'Connell, 89, of Barnstable Village passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, in her home on March 1, 2015. Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late John P. O'Connell. She is survived by her brother, James Allen, sister-in-law Virginia and her loving children, Carol, husband Alfred, Susan, husband Doug, John, wife Kath (Toolin) and Paul, wife Jeanne (Byron) as well as 11 grandchildren and other family and friends, and predeceased by her brother Joseph and wife, Gladys. She was born in Dorchester, MA., raised her family in Natick and in 1992, after a career at TJMaxx she and Jack retired to Barnstable Village, MA. Dorothy enjoyed volunteering at the Trayser Coast Guard Heritage Museum in Barnstable. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, March 8 from 4-7 p.m. at Doane, Beal and Ames Funeral Home, 160 W. Main St., Hyannis, MA. Funeral Mass, Monday, March 9 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Chapel, 32 Summer St., Yarmouthport, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothy's name to VNA Hospice Care of Cape Cod, 255 Independence Drive, Hyannis, MA 02601.
