
A graduate of Framingham High School and Mass Bay Community College, Eric was an Army veteran who served two years as a tank commander at Fort Knox, Kentucky after which he received an honorable discharge. Following his discharge from the Army, Eric played an influential role in many organizations including Atria software, Fed-Ex, Tigermark, Rodenhiser Excavating, Podgurski Excavating, and most recently UPS and Dunkin Donuts.
Eric was well-known for his involvement with the AA program, and he helped scores of people overcome their addiction. Eric was a loving father to his four children who survive him, Benjamin, Abigail, Samuel and Madeline Burgess of Framingham, Ma. In addition to his parents and his children, Eric is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces & a great-nephew. Eric is pre-deceased by his only sister, Deborah Waugh of Centerville, MA.
There are many other friends and neighbors whose lives were deeply impacted by Eric Burgess, including his friend Marsha Prue-Bennison.
A memorial service for Eric will be held at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home located at 160 West Main Street, Hyannis, MA from 2-5pm on Sunday, August 14th 2016.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eric's name to Alcoholics Anonymous, The Society for Suicide Prevention, or the MSPCA, as he had such a love of dogs.
