Helen A. Mackenzie

Helen A. Mackenzie, 96, of Hyannis, passed away on Saturday June 26, 2021 at her home. She was born in Monson, Massachusetts on the family farm to the late Andrew and Elizabeth (Sudol) Kwasnik on July 7, 1924.

Born and raised in Monson, she came to Cape Cod with her family in 1956. She graduated from Springfield College of Nursing and was a registered nurse for many years, working at Cape Cod Hospital until her retirement in 1995.

She was much beloved by her family and friends. Helen enjoyed sewing, reading, and completing word puzzles. During her retirement, she helped care for her grandchildren, and during her free time, took frequent walks and joined a bowling league.

She is survived by her four children, John Mackenzie, June Mackenzie, James Mackenzie and Jane Souza, her five grandchildren, Lars, Kelly, Dan, Rachel and Erin, and her sister, Nellie Westwater.

In addition to being predeceased by her parents and her husband, William P. Mackenzie, she is also predeceased by her four siblings: Stanley Kwasnik, Joseph Kwasnik, Sister Mary Magdalen and Andrew Kwasnik Jr.

Visitation will be held on Thursday July 1, 2021 from 11am to 1pm at Doane Beal and Ames, 160 West Main St, Hyannis. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hyannis.
