Kenneth Hartley Mercer

Barnstable: Kenneth H. Mercer beloved husband of Marjorie (Braley) of 66 years died peacefully January 22, 2019.

Ken will be remembered for his wit, great sense of humor and fabulous joke telling.

Ken was a graduate of Hyde Park High '48 and Boston University '53. Ken served as 1st Lieutenant in the Air Force in Anchorage, Alaska during the Korean Crisis.

Ken and Marge moved to Holbrook, MA where he began his 33 year career with New England Telephone. He was actively involved in the community serving as past president of the Rotary Club, a school committee member, and Library Trustee. In 1986, Ken and Marge moved to Barnstable Village where he was treasurer for Unitarian Church of Barnstable and Tales of Cape Cod. They enjoyed their membership at the Hyannis Yacht Club where they had many boating adventures.

In addition to his loving wife Marjorie, Kenneth is survived by his daughter Susan Mercer of Grover Beach, CA and grandchildren Jason Murphy of Phoenix, AZ and Jennifer and husband Bobby Picardo of Washington, DC; his son Doug and Donna Mercer of Stuart, FL & Plymouth, MA and grandchildren Ashley and Tim Kenny of Ashburn, VA and Nicola Mercer and significant other Anthony Salerno of Boca Rotan, FL; his son Matthew and Alicia Mercer of Wilmington, NC and grandchildren Kenneth Mercer and fiancée Michelle Hutton of Morrisville, NC, Emily and Perry DeLuke of Wilmington, NC and Stephen Mercer of Wilmington, NC; his brother William and Alice Mercer of Milton, MA; sister Margaret and Dick Williams of Wareham, MA; sister Sandra and Michael Francis of Milton, MA and sister-in-law Liz Mercer of Stoughton, MA. Kenneth is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
